The stallion  who stamps our breeding

Sunlight xx

Domaine du Moulin de Waltenheim, Silvia Streiff, Hengste, Sunlight xx

Sunlight xx  – Through his second sire, Tudor Melody, Sunlight xx is closely related to the famous stallion Lauries Crusador xx.  This highly reputable stallion stood at the state stud of Celle, where his long career has greatly influenced Hanoverian horse-breeding. SUNLIGHT xx, who for most of his life has been owned by a small breeder in a private yard has been used to a much less extent.  Nevertheless SUNLIGHTxx has produced many excellent horses who have successfully competed on international level, mostly in eventing. SUNLIGHT xx has passed on his excellent rideability as well as his kind character. He was licensed for Hanover, Oldenburg and Holstein.

Sunlight's xx career has been similar to that of the thoroughbred stallions used by the successful French breeders.  The French breeders partly forgo the high “racing-handicap.”  For them it is important that the horse has raced well and above all has remained sound. The qualities asked for are correct confirmation, good temperament and a good ability to jump. SUNLIGHT xx has not been licensed on a handicap of 94 kg like the thoroughbred racing stallions, but he has completed the very tough 100 day-test in Medingen where he has  achieved top scores in all disciplines. SUNLIGHT xx, a thoroughbred stallion that possesses the best qualities for producing part-bred sport horses of great quality and also passes on the little extra only thoroughbreds can provide.

Thoroughbred blood in the
modern sport horse breeding

Which successful and famous breeder does not give this subject his attention and considers making use of this blood in order to bring in toughness, willingness and refinement.  We are convinced that SUNLIGHT xx provides the solid base necessary in modern sport horse breeding.

How do we choose the stallions:

As a breeder, one is probably always tempted to have a certain preference for a stallion. Nevertheless, we never neglect the following criteria:

  • optimum match of bloodlines after intensive study of pedigrees

  • good temperament

  • good rideability

  • excellent  soundness

  • evidence that the stallion has himself  been successful in sport and has produced good offspring doing  well in competition.

D - for Donnerhall
D - for Dressage-Horse

We believe that it is a MUST to have DONNERHALL in a dressage pedigree and therefore most of our horses are out of the famous D-line.  We have selectively chosen the sires in order to follow up the D- line with direct progeny by De Niro, Danone etc.

Damsey FRH

Dressage Royal – Donnerhall / Ritual – Ramiro
Among the top-1% of the German Dressage-Sires

Domaine du Moulin de Waltenheim, Silvia Streiff, Hengste, Damsey FRH

We do not only believe that Damsey FRH is a very special sire, this horse has also taken a special place in our heart. It is further enrichment that through this horse we have become friends with the well known breeders and stallion owners Susanne & Jens Meyer from Hengsthaltung,  Dorum.  Also, we have been very pleased to make the acquaintance of Damsey’s owners, Mrs. Louise Leatherdale and her late husband Dough who are wonderful horse-people from the U.S.

We are highly impressed with the outstanding performance Damsey has given over his long lasting sport career.  He competed at the highest level and was an important member of the German Dressage-Team.  Damsey gave his final performance with Helen Langehanenberg at Grand Prix, competing against world class horses when he was 18 yrs old.  The horse was still full of elasticity, completely sound and achieved a score of 84%.

What can be more important for a stallion than to give on soundness and long lasting energy. We very much hope that DAMSEY FRH will continue to produce many more quality dressage horses in the future.
